Caserta was also headquarters for allied commanders during WWII. The
German surrender to the Allies finally took place in a ceremony within
this palace.

Ischia is an exceptionally green island of thermal
baths and popular beachfronts sitting on an extinct volcano. Local towns
offer individualized vacation retreats, from excellent beaches to
especially active nightlife. Ischia is generally a bigger, quieter, and
less expensive alternative to Capri.

Decaying, crowded home of the original and freshest

Rome, but more modern, equally stunning sculptures are everywhere in
public life and many of Italy's modern artists trace their origins to
Naples. From here you can visit the nearby active volcano and the
villages of Herculaneum and Pompeii which were there to see it first.

in Tuscany -- slowly learning from the astonishing countryside as she

Procida Italy:
Although it's not more than a few kilometers long,
Procida's peaceful inlets, sea-warn walls and white, strikingly
geometric facades cut into the cliffsides -- often high above the water
-- are regularly featured in international and domestic films. One beach
on Procida has even been named "beach of the postman".

Sicily befriends the reclusive poet Pablo Neruda and learns to express
his love for a distant woman in heartfelt letters. Filmed mainly at
Marina Corricella and Pozzo Vecchio beach in tiny Procida.
Salerno Italy:
This tranquil port city is where the U.S. Army first
landed forces in WWII. Along the Salerno seafront promenade you'll find
a cathedral with the remains of St. Matthew along with Greek artifacts
sampled from nearby Paestum -- a small town renowned for a greater
concentration of well-preserved Greek temples than you'll find anywhere

Romantic writers, who rediscovered the area and made it famous.
